New Postage for Surface Bulk Bag Service and Bulk Posting of Air & Surface Lightweight Items to Japan & Thailand w.e.f 14 August 2006

The postage rates of the Surface Bulk Bag service to all destinations and the bulk posting of lightweight air mail items not exceeding 50g to Japan and Thailand will be adjusted with effect from 14 August 2006. Contemporaneous with the adjustment, a new set of postage rates for bulk posting of lightweight items by sea to Japan and Thailand will also come into effect.

"Due to the significant increase in letter handling and delivery charges levied by overseas postal administrations, we need to adjust the postage rates to achieve cost recovery. The revision has no direct impact on general public and will only affect a small number of commercial mailers. After the postage rates adjustment, our postage rates are still lower than those of some key postal administrations in the region." said Mr. TAM.
