Mail delivery service to tsunami affected areas suspended

The Assistant Postmaster General (Postal), Mr. CHAN Yau-fung, announced today that, due to the considerable damage the Tsunami (tidal waves) created by the earthquake near Indonesia had caused to extensive areas in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Maldives, Malaysia, Myanmar, Somalia, Sri Lanka and Thailand, mail delivery service to the long stretch of the eastern coastline in Sri Lanka has been temporarily suspended, and postal items addressed to the other countries concerned are subject to delay until further notice.
