Issue of Stamp Sheetlet - HONG KONG 2004 Stamp Expo "Tourism Series No. 2 : Green Hong Kong"

The Postmaster General, Mr. Allan CHIANG, announced today (11 September 2003) that to commemorate HONG KONG 2004 Stamp Expo, which will be held from 30 January to 3 February 2004 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre with free admission, a series of six stamp sheetlets on tourism are being issued as a run-up to and during the Expo period. The first sheetlet - "Nightlife" was issued on 8 April 2003 and the second one - "Green Hong Kong" will be issued on 14 October 2003.

"Tourism Series No. 2 : Green Hong Kong" stamp sheetlet has several special features. While the varied illustrations highlight and enrich the theme on Hong Kong's greenery, the sheetlet also incorporates a new $10 stamp which forms part of the design. Furthermore, the illustration at the top right hand corner is an innovative way to provide a preview of the next new stamp in this series. The stamp and stamp sheetlet are designed by Mr. Jason CHUM and printed in lithography by Joh. Ensched? Stamps Security Printers, the Netherlands.

Information about associated philatelic products of this issue and the sales restriction per queuing customer starting from 14 October 2003 is as follows:

The stamp sheetlet and the presentation pack will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Shatin Central Post Office and Tsuen Wan Post Office from 23 September 2003. Official First Day Cover at $1 each will be put on sale at all post offices on the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided souvenir covers will be accepted at all post offices from 23 to 29 September 2003.

Hand-back service will be provided at all post offices on 14 October 2003 for official and privately-made covers bearing the first day of issue indication and a local address. A special postmark and a cachet will also be introduced. Application of the cachet will be available at the 39 philatelic offices on 14 October 2003.

The GPO-1 postmark, the "Philatelic Bureau" pictorial postmark and the philatelic office pictorial postmarks will also be available for hand-back service at all philatelic offices on 14 October 2003.

All post offices will open on 14 October 2003 as on normal weekdays. In addition, the public hall of the Hongkong Post Philatelic Bureau will also open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for datestamping covers with the "Philatelic Bureau" pictorial postmark, the GPO-1 postmark as well as the special postmark.
