The Postmaster General, Mr. P. C. LUK, announced today (17 December 2001) that a set of two souvenir covers will be available for sale at the 38 philatelic offices from 19 December 2001 to 2 January 2002 with the theme "Hong Kong Asia's World City" The cover designs come from the winning designs of the Youth Design Contest for Souvenir Cover on Asia's world city held in October 2001. The aim of the contest was to enhance students' awareness and interest in promoting Hong Kong. In the designs, the winners (LAU Hei-man and WONG Yan-yuen ) presented Hong Kong as an international business and financial centre, a cosmopolitan and vibrant city, an arts and cultural hub as well as a tourist destination.
The price of the covers is $2 each and $4 per set.
A special postmark will be introduced on 2 January 2002. Hand-back service to official and privately-made covers bearing an indication of the event and a local address will be provided at 38 philatelic offices on that day. The GPO-1 hand stampand pictorial postmarks will also be available for hand-back service at all philatelic offices on the same day.
The public hall of Hongkong Post Stamps Philatelic Bureau will open from 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on 2 January 2002 for datestamping covers with the "Philatelic Bureau" pictorial postmark, the GPO-1 postmark as well as the special postmark.

Special Postmark
